LFP Sells Ligue 2 Rights To BeIN Sports, Mediapro For €64M

The French Professional Football League (LFP) announced beIN Sports and Mediapro acquired the rights to Ligue 2 and the Coupe de la Ligue for four years from ’20-24, according to L’ÉQUIPE. For Ligue 2, the rights to the ’20-21-’23-24 seasons were sold for €64M ($72.5M), “close to three times” the LFP’s previous €22M deal. Mediapro acquired eight Saturday Ligue 2 matches. Playoff matches between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 as well as between Ligue 2 and Nationale 1 were awarded to beIN Sports. BeIN Sports also acquired the rights to Ligue 2 Monday night matches. The final lot of Tuesday and Friday magazine highlights was bought by Mediapro. French broadcasters Canal+ and Altice did not bid for the Ligue 2 rights (L’ÉQUIPE, 12/4).
