Media Notes: DAZN Acquires FA Cup Rights in DACH Market

DAZN will exclusively carry the FA Cup in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The streaming service acquired the rights to the competition, which were previously held by Eurosport, until '23-24. DAZN will start its coverage in the third main round on Jan. 5. Traditionally, "the major Premier League clubs enter the competition in this round." Financial details of the deal were not disclosed (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 10/18).

German motorsports channel Motorvision TV joined hybrid OTT service Freenet TV Connect, "which complements DVB-T2 platform Freenet TV with additional channels and video-on-demand services." Motorvision TV does not offer its pay-TV channel, "but instead a playlist with free short-form content and advertising" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 10/18).
