Argentine Superliga side Banfield named LUCÍA BARBUTO its president. She replaces EDUARDO SPINOSA and will be the first female president in the club's history (LOS ANDES, 9/16). ... FERNANDO AGUERRE was re-elected unopposed as president of the Int'l Surfing Association at the ISA annual general meeting on Sunday. Aguerre will commence his ninth term as president since being first elected in '94 (ISA).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Spanish second division side Tenerife sacked coach JOSEBA ETXEBERRIA after five games in which the team recorded three draws and two losses (MARCA, 9/17). ... J.League side Vissel Kobe announced JUAN MANUEL LILLO, a former assistant coach of Chile's national team, will take over as head coach. Vissel has "struggled to make headway" in the league standings this season "despite recently signing" Spaniard ANDRÉS INIESTA and acquiring German int'l LUKAS PODOLSKI last year (KYODO, 9/17). ... Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad sacked Manager RAMÓN DIAZ "after just two games." The club insisted it was not a "knee-jerk reaction." Club President NAWAF AL-MUQAIRN said, "This was not a spur of the moment decision. We have had a number of meetings with him to ask that he solves the issues with the team but this did not happen. We already had an alternative plan" (ARAB NEWS, 9/17).
