The Formula 1 British Grand Prix will be shown live on both Channel 4 and Sky in '19 as "part of a new partnership between the broadcasters," according to the BBC. Channel 4, which is free-to-air, also secured highlights of all races, while Sky "will carry every race live on its subscription-only F1 channel." Channel 4 won the U.K. free-to-air rights from the BBC in '16. As part of the deal, Channel 4 will screen series one of Sky drama Tin Star, while Channel 4 box sets will be available to Sky customers (BBC, 9/12).

La Liga partnered with Google in a bid to protect and "safeguard its media rights portfolio from illegal streaming websites," according to Ashish Khanna of INSIDE SPORT. La Liga will work with the search engine to "block search results that list known pirate Internet Protocol television (IPTV) services," which have the capacity to stream live TV and live media, with or without related interactivity. The blocking policy blocks not just individual pages, but also known pirate websites, including FAQ and About Us pages having illegal content. Every streaming source that is not officially linked to La Liga is "flagged and removed by Google" (INSIDE SPORT, 9/12).

Independent comic and graphic novel producer Fan The Flame Concepts launched Neymar Jr. Comics on Wednesday. The new venture combines Neymar's popularity and passion for comics into new multimedia entertainment property for his legions of fans around the world. The new line of comics launched with the debut issue of "Inked: Art Animates Life." The plot of Inked follows Junior, the story's protagonist drawn in Neymar's likeness, who uses magical tattoo ink to bring his body art to life. He then sets off to save his sister, who was kidnapped by a mysterious cartel. Created by N.Y. Times-bestselling author and comic and graphic novel creator Jason M. Burns, Inked is set in Neymar's home country of Brazil. Set to debut in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English, Neymar Jr. Comics will be delivered in a paperless, digital format via neymarjrcomics.com. A portion of the proceeds from all sales of Neymar Jr. Comics will benefit Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr., Neymar's charitable foundation (Fan The Flame).

The NFL and Sina Weibo announced Weibo will continue to be the official Chinese social media platform of the NFL for the '18-19 season. The two parties will "enhance and strengthen their collaboration." The NFL and Weibo will continue to work around content and fan engagement and the NFL will provide more "premier official content" and produce videos "suitable for the Chinese fans and market." The NFL will also develop American football accounts communities on Weibo (YUTANG SPORTS, 9/12).

Tottenham became the first Premier League side to launch on Chinese video platform Douyin. The club will use the short-form video app, which has over 100 million registered users and generates more than 1 billion daily video views, "providing content such as skills, goals and behind-the-scenes footage to attract young Chinese fans to the club." Douyin was the sixth-most downloaded app in the world in the first quarter of '18 across iOS and Android devices (SOCCEREX, 9/12).

Eurosport agreed to a three-year partnership with United World Wrestling. The agreement, which runs until '20, will allow Eurosport to showcase the World Championships and European Championships across Europe in 54 countries and territories and 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region on linear, online and Eurosport Player (Eurosport).

Spain’s 6-0 win over Croatia on Tuesday in the Nations League drew an average audience of 5.4 million viewers on TVE, which translated to a market share of 34.1%. The audience peaked with 6.5 million viewers following La Roja’s sixth goal at 10:11pm local time. Last Saturday’s Spain-England match drew 4 million viewers (EFE, 9/12).

FACEIT, an esports broadcaster and organizer of the upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major in London, teamed up with livestreaming platform Twitch to launch the platform’s first supplemental content package for a CS:GO event. The Premium Pass will give viewers access to exclusive features such as interviews, player point-of-view channels and exclusive chat rooms (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 9/12).
