Mediapro reached an agreement with Vodafone and Orange to acquire the '18-19 rights to La Liga in public establishments including bars, hotels and restaurants. The broadcaster reportedly paid about €120M ($137.6M) for the rights. Vodafone and Orange acquired the La Liga rights in public establishments during the previous auction, spending €100M per season for '15-16, '16-17 and '18-19 (EL PAÍS, 8/19).
RTÉ confirmed that Gaelic Athletic Association club Tyrone "will not take part in any media coverage with the broadcaster" ahead of its All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final clash with Dublin on Sept. 2. This continues Tyrone’s "boycott of RTÉ, which has been in place" since '11. It means RTÉ "will not be able to conduct" its traditional broadcast from the Tyrone hotel should Tyrone win (IRISH TIMES, 8/20).
EA Sports' "FIFA 19" has "secured the official license" to Italy's Serie A, which Cristiano Ronaldo will "call home for the new season after joining Juventus." While the Italian teams and kits "were already in the game, the league was known as Calcio A on FIFA 17 and 18" (London DAILY MAIL, 8/20).
