Event Notes: BCCI Hands Asia Cup Rights To Emirates Cricket Board

The BCCI "officially handed over the hosting rights" of the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup Cricket Tournament to the Emirates Cricket Board. The matches will be held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The tournament was originally scheduled in India, "and hence BCCI had the original hosting rights" (SPORTSKEEDA, 8/18).

The New Zealand Maori league sides "will get their biggest boost in history with a game against the Australian Indigenous All Stars expected to be announced" by the National Rugby League this week. A preseason men's and women's doubleheader will be played in Melbourne on Feb. 15, according to nrl.com, although there was "no indication if it would become a regular feature" (NEW ZEALAND HERALD, 8/20).

The Australian Football League finals "could open with an unprecedented four matches" at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The league is prepared to play a Sunday final for the first time since '15 if Victorian clubs host all four games in week one from Sept. 6-9. Richmond has the only guaranteed fixture, with round 23 to "settle the rest of the top-eight order" (AAP, 8/21).

The FIA World Endurance Championship calendar for the '19-20 season was revealed last Friday. Former WEC venues São Paulo and Bahrain will return, as Sebring "provisionally will" for a second time after it was placed on the '18-19 "Super Season" calendar. The schedule features eight races on five continents (RACER, 8/17).
