West Ham In Dispute To Remove Spurs Blue Material In Stadium

West Ham United is "in dispute" with its London Stadium landlord over the color of the material that surrounds the pitch as the club is "worried that it will resemble the navy blue" of its rival, Tottenham, according to Gary Jacob of the LONDON TIMES. The athletics track around the pitch is "covered by a green material" but West Ham has "successfully lobbied for it to be changed as it is too similar" to the color of the grass. The club wants it to be claret to match its colors and has "offered to pay the cost" of about £200,000 ($254,260) and maintenance, thereby "saving the landlord and taxpayer from otherwise having to foot the bill as they are required." However, West Ham is "concerned that the landlord wants to use a darker blue in line with its branding in a fresh row between the parties." The dispute to get the color altered is one of four cases that West Ham has won against the landlords after the club was "forced to take legal action" (LONDON TIMES, 8/16).
