The Supercopa between Barcelona and Sevilla will be played as a single match in Tangier, Morocco -- "the first time it has been played outside Spain," according to the BBC. The match will kick off at the Stade Ibn Batouta on Aug. 12. The Supercopa "has always been played over two legs -- one at each club's ground -- until now" (BBC, 7/22). MUNDO DEPORTIVO reported the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed TVE will carry the match (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 7/23).
UNDER THE MICROSCOPE: SUPERDEPORTE reported RFEF President Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE), was accused of using AFE funds to pay for renovations to his home in '15. The claim was filed by Miguel Ángel Galán, the president of Spain's National Football Coaches Development Center (SUPERDEPORTE, 7/23). MUNDO DEPORTIVO also reported the AFE said that it did not fund any personal project for Rubiales. The current head of the RFEF is accused of awarding the Casa del Futbolista project to the same architect that renovated his house and "diverting part of the cost to cover what he owed the architect" (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 7/23).
