A-League Creates Centralized Facility For VAR System
Football Federation Australia "is taking a leaf" from the National Rugby League’s book for the A-League, creating a centralized bunker facility for the VAR system, according to the AAP. A-League Head Greg O’Rourke "announced the move when releasing the draw for the new season," in which Adelaide United will host Sydney FC in the opening match on Oct. 19. O’Rourke said that the VAR, which was introduced to the A-League last season, "would be revamped." He added, "Following an offseason review, and with the success at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, we will continue with the use of the Video Assistant Referee system, however in a new centralized facility" (AAP, 7/13).
