Egypt Official Announces Desire To Host 2030 World Cup, 2032 Olympics

Egypt Minister of Youth & Sports Ashraf Sobhy announced the country is "considering applying to organize the 2030 World Cup and the 2032 Olympics," according to the EGYPT INDEPENDENT. Sobhy said, "We are preparing for several projects in the coming period in cooperation with sports stars in Egypt. We hope to organize the 2030 World Cup and organize the 2032 Olympics." Morocco previously announced its "wish to host" the World Cup in '30 after failing to win the bid to host the 2026 World Cup (EGYPT INDEPENDENT, 7/11). THE NEW ARAB reported two "early bids" to host the '30 tournament "have already been proposed by England and jointly by Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay," which hosted the first World Cup in 1930 (THE NEW ARAB, 7/11).
