Andy Murray Provides Wimbledon Commentary For BBC

Andy Murray returned to Wimbledon Tuesday as a TV pundit, according to Stuart Fraser of the LONDON TIMES. The two-time champion provided analysis to viewers from the BBC's on-site studio. Murray's management has been "in discussions with the BBC since he pulled out of the tournament the day before it started." An agreement was reached Monday for him to appear Tuesday as a pundit and again Wednesday as a co-commentator for one of the men's quarterfinals. Murray wrote on Facebook on Monday, "Live in the BBC studio tomorrow with Tim Henman and trying my hand at commentary on Wednesday. What could possibly go wrong..." Murray has made "occasional appearances" in the BBC's radio commentary booth. It "will be fascinating to hear Murray, who has one of the best tactical minds in the game, give his thoughts." Unlike some of the older pundits, such as John McEnroe, he has "the benefit of having competed against all of the players who remain in the men's singles." BBC Head of TV Sport Philip Bernie said, "Having Andy Murray as part of our BBC team is a real coup. His insight will be a great addition to our coverage" (LONDON TIMES, 7/10).
