Buffon, 40, left Juventus at the end of the season, ending a 17-year stay at the club where he played 656 times (BBC, 7/6). ... League One side Rochdale CEO RUSS GREEN was suspended from "all football-related activity" until June 30, 2019. Green admitted to three breaches of FA rules relating to "incidents of misconduct in intermediary activity." The charges relate to the period when Green was CEO of National League side Hartlepool United. He was also fined £10,000 ($13,290) (BBC, 7/6). ... KIM EUN-JUNG, the captain of the Korean women's Olympic curling team, "tied the knot" on Saturday. The Korea women’s curling team "captured the world’s attention" at the 2018 PyeongChang Games after it beat "more experienced teams" and won the Silver Medal (KOREA HERALD, 7/8). ... Northern Irish motorcycle racer WILLIAM DUNLOP died after a crash during practice for the Skerries 100 in County Dublin. The 32-year-old rider from Ballymoney, County Antri, was a member of the Dunlop "dynasty of racing greats" and a repeat winner of the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix (PA, 7/7). ... Olympic boxing two-time Gold Medalist ROBEISY RAMIREZ "abandoned Cuba's national team during a training camp in Mexico," the Cuban Sports Institute said on Thursday, the second major defection to hit the Communist-run country's boxing squad this year. Cuba's National Sports Institute said on its website that Ramirez, 24, was "turning his back" on his teammates. Ramirez's immediate whereabouts were unknown (REUTERS, 7/5).
