Roger Federer Reportedly Splits With Nike, Signs With Uniqlo

Nike has sponsored Federer throughout his career.GETTY IMAGES

Roger Federer "reportedly split with long-term sponsor Nike after his contract expired," according to Mikael McKenzie of the London EXPRESS. Federer, 37, "has been with the American sports company for his entire career." However, he "has apparently signed a bumper 10-year deal with Japanese clothes manufacturer Uniqlo" worth $30M a year. Uniqlo "is said to be the Japanese version of H&M." The Japanese brand sponsored Novak Djokovic "until he swapped to Lacoste last year." Local reports in Switzerland said that Uniqlo has "heavily invested in Federer" as it tries to grow its brand globally. However, Uniqlo does not make trainers, so Federer "will still be able to wear his choice of footwear," as Djokovic did with adidas (EXPRESS, 6/10).
