Man City Manager PEP GUARDIOLA was named the League Managers Association manager of the year. He led the club to the Premier League title with a record 100 points, "scoring 106 goals and dropping just 14 points all season." His side also claimed the League Cup, beating Arsenal 3-0 in the final at Wembley (BBC, 5/15). ... Former FA of Thailand President WORAWI MAKUDI's ban from football was "slightly reduced" to three-and-a-half years from five on Wednesday after a ruling by FIFA's appeal committee. Worawi received the original ban in Oct. '16 (REUTERS, 5/16). ... France's ALIZÉ CORNET was cleared of an anti-doping violation on Tuesday "after a charge against her for missing three out-of-competition drug tests was dismissed." The 28-year-old, currently world No. 32, was charged with missing three tests within a 12-month period. Cornet said that the third missed test, which resulted in the charge, "was caused by a misunderstanding," and an independent tribunal ruled in her favor (REUTERS, 5/15). ... Former Formula 1 driver FELIPE MASSA signed a three-year deal to race in Formula E from next season. He will join Monaco-based Venturi, which is co-owned by actor LEONARDO DICAPRIO, from the '18-19 season. Massa, who won 11 grands prix, quit F1 last season after 15 years in the sport (BBC, 5/15).
