Former ManU Manager LOUIS VAN GAAL suggested he "could be close to a return to management after receiving an offer too good to refuse." The Dutchman spent two seasons with ManU but was "sacked the day after winning the FA Cup" in '16, with JOSÉ MOURINHO replacing him. Van Gaal said, "I still get a lot of offers. I have now received an offer that I actually cannot refuse" (SKY SPORTS, 4/26). ... Sweden's record goalscorer, ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC, will not be coming out of his int'l retirement to represent his country at the World Cup in Russia, the Swedish FA said. Sweden national team Chief of Staff LASSE RICHT said, "I spoke to Zlatan on Tuesday, and he said that he hasn't changed his mind about the national team -- it's a no" (REUTERS, 4/26). ... The Japan Boxing Commission announced DAIGO HIGA's license was suspended indefinitely "following his failure to make weight for a world title bout" earlier this month. Higa was stripped of his World Boxing Council flyweight belt on April 14, the eve of his defense against CRISTOFER ROSALES of Nicaragua, after "exceeding the weight limit by 900 grams" (KYODO, 4/25). ... An "abusive online petition" was set up to have New Zealand Cricket President DEBBIE HOCKLEY "dumped" from the Sky cricket commentary team. In it, Hockley, who joined the Sky commentary box late last year, is called an "absolute joke," a "stupid bimbo," a "c**t," told to "shut the f**k up" and even threatened with physical violence (NEW ZEALAND HERALD, 4/26). ... LLEYTON HEWITT will come out of retirement again to play doubles at the ATP Estoril clay court tournament in Portugal with "emerging Aussie talent" ALEX DE MINAUR. Australian Davis Cup captain Hewitt retired from professional tennis in '16 but made a "cameo appearance" alongside SAM GROTH at the Australian Open, where the duo made the quarterfinals (AAP, 4/26). ... Formula 1 driver DANIEL RICCIARDO denied he has any agreement with Ferrari to join the team next season. Ricciardo is out of contract with Red Bull at the end of the season and "he has been heavily linked with a move to Ferrari or Mercedes," with reports claiming he signed an option with the Scuderia in which he could only negotiate with the Italian team. Ricciardo: "That's not true, I can say that" (SKY SPORTS, 4/26). ... Champion Australian jockey NASH RAWILLER could be facing up to three years in jail after reportedly being detained by Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption "following his ban from racing for tipping and betting on Wednesday." The 43-year-old Rawiller was found guilty by Hong Kong Jockey Club stewards of two charges; taking gifts for tips and being party to bets placed on horses he was riding in races. He was given a 15-month disqualification (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 4/26).

AUSTIN GP CONCERT: U.S. Grand Prix organizers "enlisted" BRUNO MARS and BRITNEY SPEARS to "boost the crowds" with concerts before and after this year's Formula 1 race in Austin, Texas. Mars, a 27-time Grammy nominee, will be Saturday night’s headline act after qualifying when he performs his 24K Magic World Tour show, while Spears closes out the event on Oct. 21 (REUTERS, 4/25).
