AS Roma Inks €40M Shirt Deal With Qatar Airways

Serie A side AS Roma on Monday announced a multi-year shirt sponsorship agreement with Qatar Airways that is reportedly worth €40M ($48.8M) for three seasons, according to Elvira Pollina of REUTERS. AS Roma previously said that it signed a deal with Qatar Airways "making the airline the team's official shirt sponsor" until '21. AS Roma said that it was the "largest deal ever signed by the club and one of the biggest ever agreed by an Italian team" (REUTERS, 4/23). FOOTBALL ITALIA reported AS Roma President James Pallotta said, "Today’s announcement is the result of discussions behind the scenes for over eight months with Qatar Airways, led by our commercial team in London with much assistance from the entire Roma team, and comes at a significant time in the club’s history, on and off the pitch." The five-time Airline of the Year also becomes the club's seventh sponsor in its 90-year history and its first since '12 (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 4/23).
