Media Notes: Man City Debuts Four-Part Series On Grassroots Game

Man City and Etihad Airways teamed up to celebrate some of the untold stories of grassroots football from across a selection of the airline's gateways. The four-part series, titled CITY2CITY, premiered on Twitter, via a Periscope live broadcast and Twitter Moments. All four episodes were exclusively available for 24 hours on Tuesday (Man City). 

Filipino telecom Globe Telecom announced it will "spin-off a new gaming division," designed to build events and promotional content in the region. The launch of Globe Gaming includes partnerships with Riot Games, Garena, and Mineski in events and content creation. Globe Telecom CEO Ernest Cu said that the Globe Gaming team is "led by staff with backgrounds in the gaming space" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 4/19).

Newzoo announced its Game Streaming Tracker now includes YouTube Gaming data. The service "utilizes machine learning to attempt to identify and classify esports-specific content." The company also released five insights on the streaming market derived from its data, "all of which point to the conclusion that YouTube is the destination for the casual gaming audience, not esports fans" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 4/18).

The Coupe de France match between Caen and Paris St. Germain, which PSG won 3-1, drew an average audience of 3.2 million viewers on France 3. The numbers translated to a 14.2% market share (L’ÉQUIPE, 4/19).
