MARTIN SORRELL on Saturday quit as CEO of advertising company WPP "after a damaging investigation into alleged personal misconduct." The 73-year-old, who transformed WPP into "the world's biggest advertising company," ended a "turbulent spell" for the firm, saying that it was "in the best interests of the business if I step down now." Sorrell had been under pressure since WPP admitted it launched an independent investigation into "misuse of company funds," details of which have not been made public (SUNDAY TIMES, 4/15). ... Former Formula 1 driver PEDRO DE LA ROSA joined Chinese-owned Formula E team Techeetah as sporting & technical advisor. His first day in the role was Saturday's Rome ePrix (REUTERS, 4/12). ... Bayern Munich announced Eintracht Frankfurt coach NIKO KOVAC will succeed JUPP HEYNCKES as its manager "at the end of the season." Heynckes took over in September and led Bayern to its sixth successive Bundesliga title. The 72-year-old is in his fourth spell at the club (BBC, 4/13). ... Egyptian Premier League side Zamalek President MORTADA MANSOUR sacked coach EHAB GALAL after three straight league losses. Galal was Zamalek's 23rd head coach since Mansour became club president in April '14 (BBC, 4/13).

KUMAR SANGAKKARA is joining Sky Sports as a cricket commentator. Sangakkara, the 40-year-old former Sri Lankan cricketer and the second-highest run-scorer in int'l history, "signed up for his first full-time commentary role since retiring from the game last September" (London INDEPENDENT, 4/13). ... ANTHONY JOSHUA admitted that he is "unlikely to face" DEONTAY WILDER in his next bout despite his promoter "making a bid to stage a fight for the undisputed world heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium." Joshua believes that Wilder is "unlikely to accept," and said that he will "probably" face either ALEXANDER POVETKIN or JARRELL MILLER next (LONDON TIMES, 4/14). ... Former Indian cricketer MS DHONI is suing real estate developer Amrapali Group "over unpaid dues" worth Rs 150 crore ($22.5M). French journalist DENIS BALBIR was suspended by TV channel W9 "after he made homophobic comments off-air" during coverage of Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille's 5-2 win at home against Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in their Europa League quarterfinal second leg on Thursday (REUTERS, 4/13).
