Deontay Wilder Offered £8.8M To Fight Anthony Joshua

Deontay Wilder was offered a flat fee of £8.8M ($12.5M) to fight Anthony Joshua and "unify the heavyweight division," with the American "set to give his answer within the next 48 hours," according to Gareth Davies of the London TELEGRAPH. Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, have reportedly sent a contract to Wilder and his representatives but it "does not state where the fight will be, when it will be, or even whether it will be Joshua's next fight." Joshua claimed his team has "submitted three offers to Wilder this week" for a fight that would gross at least £60M ($85.1M) and "possibly far more" However, the American's management team refuted this, claiming that this is "the first offer." In what would "effectively be a fee for Wilder and a huge payday for Joshua," the two teams will discuss a 50/50 split for a second contest between the pair, "regardless of whether Joshua loses." A unification contest between the two unbeaten heavyweights has been estimated to be worth in the region of £75M ($106.4M), "doubling up" to £150M ($212.8M) for two meetings (TELEGRAPH, 4/10).

BOXERCISE: CAMPAIGN LIVE's Gurjit Degun reported Joshua and Fit Water, the Lucozade water brand, "hosted the biggest ever boxercise class." On Monday, Joshua "put 541 people through their paces" with boxing moves at York Hall in London. The event achieved a Guinness World Record (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 4/11).
