Salah's Deal With Vodafone Egypt Could Cost Brand More Than £100M

Mohamed Salah's goals since arriving at Liverpool last summer "have made him the talk of England," according to Ian Doyle of the LIVERPOOL ECHO. His next strike, though, "will make Egypt talk." Salah recently formed a partnership with Vodafone Egypt to promote the telecom. As part of a special initiative, the company confirmed that for every goal Salah scores between now and the end of the season, it "will give customers 11 free minutes of talk time." Salah has netted 36 goals in 41 games this season. Given there are still at least nine Liverpool matches remaining this term, it "could prove a costly exercise for Vodafone Egypt." The average cost in a price plan of a minute is, "at a conservative estimate," about 25p ($0.35). That means that the potential cost to Vodafone Egypt "could go in excess of" £100M ($141.1M) for every goal Salah scores (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 3/20).
