Event Notes: Cardiff City Manager Calls Postponement 'Disgraceful'

The decision to postpone the Cardiff City-Derby County match was made following heavy snowfall.DERBY COUNTY

League Championship side Cardiff City Manager Neil Warnock called the postponing of his side's game against Derby County a "disgrace." Cardiff's fixture at Pride Park was called off because "areas surrounding the stadium were deemed unsafe." Warnock said, "We got to the ground and the car park was clear, the pitch was perfect. Absolutely disgraceful really." A new date has not been announced, but it is "likely to be in April" (BBC, 3/18).

The FIFA Council selected Poland to host the U20 World Cup in '19. It will be the first time the biannual football tournament is held in the country (RADIO POLAND, 3/17).

The King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will host WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble event on April 27. The event will feature seven championship matches, including the WWE Championship. It will also feature the first-ever 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble match (WWE).

The World Men's Curling Championship 2019 will be played at the Enmax Center in Lethbridge, Canada, from March 30-April 7. Lethbridge previously hosted the World Women's Curling Championship in '12 and the World Mixed Doubles and World Senior Curling Championships last year (World Curling).

Sindh police and government officials on Monday unveiled the security plan for the Pakistan Super League final that will be played at Karachi's National Stadium on Sunday. A total of 8,5000 police personnel will be "deployed around the stadium for the match." Spectators will need to pass through a "roughly four-hour-long, three-tier security clearance procedure" before they can enter the stadium (DAWN, 3/19).

ESL One Birmingham, which is the first Dota 2 major to be staged in the U.K., is "selling out at a record pace." ESL is "being coy with actual figures," but tweeted that Birmingham is "officially the fastest selling ESL Dota 2 Major" ever. ESL SVP of Product Ulrich Schulze said, "Ticket sales for ESL One Birmingham have exceeded all expectations. We are planning to add more capacity" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 3/16).
