Barcelona's Posts Generated 182 Million Interactions In January

With nearly 182 million interactions on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter "in January alone," Barcelona "easily surpassed top clubs" including ManU (76 million), Real Madrid (45 million) and Chelsea (43 million), according to MUNDO DEPORTIVO. Blinkfire Analytics "examined the 'engagement'" -- comments, reactions, likes, retweets and shares -- top clubs experienced throughout the month. A photo from the introduction ceremony for Philippe Coutinho was the subject of a "record-setting Instagram post," which drew 2.7 million likes and 200,000 comments (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 2/22).

CAMP NOU SAYS NO: In Madrid, Luis F. Rojo reported the planned int'l match between Catalonia and Argentina on June 4 "has been cast into doubt after Barcelona informed the regional football federation that the Camp Nou cannot host the game." The exhibition "would likely turn into a rally for Catalan independence." However, planned construction works around the stadium have "prevented Barcelona from accommodating the encounter" (MARCA, 2/22).
