BORISLAV MIHAYLOV was re-elected president of the Bulgarian Football Union on Friday after his two rivals "left the congress before the vote took place in protest at alleged irregularities." Mihaylov, who has led the BFU since '05 and is the body's longest serving president, got 92% of the votes cast, but "faced criticism over a lack of transparency in the election" (REUTERS, 2/16). ... Constantin Medien extended its contract with CEO OLAF SCHRÖDER for three years through '21. Schröder has been the CEO of the company since August. Previously, he had been active on the exec committee of Constantin Medien as the COO of sports since Jan. '16 (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 2/16).
COACHES/MANAGERS: Scotland appointed ALEX MCLEISH as manager on a deal through Euro 2020. McLeish was the Scottish FA's third choice to replace GORDON STRACHAN, after MICHAEL O'NEILL and WALTER SMITH were "pursued unsuccessfully."
