Facility Notes: Hampden Park Has Scotland Manager's Backing

Alex McLeish hopes the Scottish FA continues to call Hampden Park home.GETTY IMAGES

Alex McLeish backed Hampden Park to remain Scotland's home ground "as he began the preparations for his second spell as national manager." The Scottish FA is "in the process of considering" whether to remain at Hampden. McLeish: "I would like to stay here. If it is a question of modernization, sometimes we have to move forward but I've got to say it would be hard to leave Hampden" (London TELEGRAPH, 2/17).

Tottenham could be forced to play its opening games away from the new White Hart Lane next season -- "thanks to the British weather." Club execs have until the end of the month to tell league bosses whether the new home "will be ready for the big kick-off." Any delay in the building work could see Tottenham play its first few games away from home, as Liverpool and West Ham have done in recent seasons (London MIRROR, 2/17).
