Former League One side Portsmouth Owner SULAIMAN AL FAHIM, whose tenure in charge of the club lasted six weeks in '09, was "sentenced to five years in a United Arab Emirates jail" for stealing £5M from his wife to fund the purchase. Al Fahim, who also fronted the Abu Dhabi United Group's deal to buy Man City in '08, "was found guilty of forgery, using forged documents and aiding and abetting." He and an accomplice "were found to have stolen the money" from SACHA GAYDAMAK (BBC, 2/15). ... Dutch second tier football club Fortuna Sittard denied that former Nigeria captain SUNDAY OLISEH was suspended from his role as manager due to his "refusal to to participate in illegal activities." The 43-year-old was suspended on Wednesday for what the club deemed "unacceptable actions." In response, Oliseh claimed the club wanted him to "violate the law" (BBC, 2/15). ... McLaren Formula 1 driver FERNANDO ALONSO will be a featured speaker in a keynote session taking place on Feb. 27 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (GSMA). ... Former football coach BARRY BENNELL was found guilty of "seven further sex offences," bringing the total number of which he has been convicted to 43. Bennell, who worked with Man City and Crewe Alexandra's youth teams, has been convicted of abusing 11 boys aged eight to 15 from '79-90 (BBC, 2/15). ... The QUEEN OF ENGLAND joked with England rugby internationals "about the fitness levels" of the U.K.'s players as she celebrated the achievements of the Commonwealth. Brothers BILLY and MAKO VUNIPOLA, who have Tongan heritage but were brought up in the U.K., "laughed when they said the Queen questioned the widely held view that today's rugby sportsmen were tougher and fitter." Mako said, "She was saying that apparently rugby is getting a lot tougher now, everyone's fitter but she can't see it." Billy said, "I think she was calling us fat -- which is fair enough" (London TELEGRAPH, 2/14). ... The competition committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) "opened an investigation" against Barcelona defender GERARD PIQUÉ regarding his goal celebration at Espanyol that was "deemed offensive by the home supporters." Piqué celebrated by raising his finger to his lips to "hush the home supporters" (ESPN.com, 2/15). … Eight celebrities led by former Welsh football int'l ROBBIE SAVAGE will "play five-a-side football for 12 straight hours to raise money and awareness for Sport Relief 2018." Olympic hockey Gold Medalist SAM QUEK and presenter KIRSTY GALLACHER will join Savage's Sport Relief Allstars team (BBC, 2/15). … Chelsea Manager ANTONIO CONTE was the "victim of a press-conference prank" on Thursday after being presented with a ManU shirt with his name on the back -- signed by JOSÉ MOURINHO. A comedian from an Italian satirical show, which last month "fooled" ManU Manager Mourinho into autographing the jersey at the "height of his feud" with Conte, "completed the gag" while the latter was previewing Chelsea's FA Cup match against Hull City (London TELEGRAPH, 2/15).

WEDDING MATINEE: PRINCE HARRY and MEGHAN MARKLE "raised more than a few quizzical eyebrows" when they announced plans to marry at Windsor Castle on May 19, which meant the royal wedding would "clash directly" with the 2018 FA Cup final due to take place at Wembley on the same day. However, it has since been confirmed that the wedding ceremony will take place at 12pm (ESPN.com, 2/13).
