RFEF Confirms Sacking Of Ángel María Villar; Emilio García Silvero Launches Campaign

The Spanish Football Federation's (RFEF) Electoral Commission confirmed the sacking of Ángel María Villar as president of the organization following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last Friday, according to MARCA (MARCA, 1/16). AS reported UEFA legal adviser Emilio García Silvero, who previously worked for the RFEF, "has begun his campaign to become the organization's new president." He "will have to wait until elections are formally scheduled." He is expected to be competing with Luis Rubiales, Manuel Llorente and Juan Luis Larrea for the presidency (AS, 1/16).
