Media Notes: Eleven Sports Snaps Up NBA G League TV, Digital Rights

The NBA G League signed a deal with Eleven Sports that gives the network live TV and digital rights for 120 games this regular season. The agreement calls for London-based Eleven Sports to show G League games in the U.S, Belgium, Luxembourg, Singapore and Taiwan. Most games will be shown with local-language commentary in each market. Eleven Sports paid an undisclosed fee for the rights. Both the NBA and Eleven Sports will sell advertising for the games. The deal begins Wednesday with coverage of the NBA G League Showcase (John Lombardo, SportsBusiness Journal).

ESPN launched the Brazilian edition of its ESPN App for iOS and Android, part of a newly-relaunched suite of digital products in the Brazilian market. The new Brazil edition of the ESPN App, along with ESPN.com.br, brings together a collection of ESPN multimedia content to fans in Brazil (ESPN).

Matchroom Sport
and Sky Sports announced a seven-year broadcast deal that will continue Sky’s coverage of Matchroom Sport events into a fourth decade. Running until '25, Sky customers will be able to watch a multitude of major events across eight different sports and comes alongside the continuation of Sky Sports’ broadcast agreement with the Professional Darts Corp., which will see 60 days of live darts broadcast on Sky each year (Matchroom Sport).

German sports broadcaster Sport1 launched a video platform bundling its complete online video and video-on-demand content at a central location. The "core element" of the new area accessible through the Video button at www.sport1.de and directly at www.sport1.de/tv-video is an optimized video player users can "adjust to their personal interests" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 1/9).
