F1 CEO Expected To Meet Copenhagen Mayor To Discuss Possible Race In '20

Plans for a Formula 1 Grand Prix in Copenhagen are "speeding ahead," according to GMM. Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet reported F1 CEO Chase Carey is "planning to travel to the Danish capital next week to meet with Mayor Frank Jensen and other key figures." Race promoter Helge Sander said, "We're not ready to agree yet." It was reported by multiple sources in September that a "circuit through the heart of Copenhagen has been designed by a group that includes former F1 driver Jan Magnussen." The thought is that the city "could land on the F1 schedule" as early as '20. Meanwhile, German broadcaster SWR is reporting that Carey also wants Germany's place on the F1 calendar "to be secure" beyond '18 (GMM, 1/3).
