Lawyer Criticizes Spanish Tax Authorities, Compares Cristiano Ronaldo Case With Messi's

Cristiano Ronaldo accused Spain's tax authorities of "applying different, harsher criteria to him than it has with Lionel Messi," according to Esteban Urreiztieta of EL MUNDO. His lawyer, José Antonio Choclán, accused the tax authorities of utilizing "clearly arbitrary and creative methods." Choclán "previously compared Ronaldo's case to Messi's in court" on Dec. 7. The court "denied giving Ronaldo a different treatment than the one Messi received" (EL MUNDO, 12/27).

LAUGHING IT OFF: In London, Gerard Couzens reported Ronaldo "laughed off claims he should be in jail over tax fraud allegations by posting a picture of himself with his three youngest children on Instagram" and insisting, "I'm a prisoner of these babies" (DAILY MAIL, 12/27).
