UFC named Fanatics VP/Venue Business Development PAUL ASENCIO VP/global partnerships. Asencio spent the last two years with Fanatics, and before that spent 17 years with the MLB N.Y. Mets, most recently as senior VP/corporate partnerships, sales & services (THE DAILY). ... Australian Football League side Carlton CEO STEVEN TRIGG resigned. The move comes amid speculation linking former AFL Football Operations Manager SIMON LETHLEAN to the position. Trigg had been the Blues' CEO since '14 (AFL). ... Spanish second division side Albacete named ENRIQUE MARTÍN its coach for the rest of the season. The club also hired Martín's assistant, ALFREDO SÁNCHEZ BENITO, and his trainer, JAVIER RAMOS LÓPEZ (EFE, 10/5). ... Liga MX club Pumas "parted ways" with temporary head coach SERGIO EGEA and replaced him with interim boss DAVID PATINO in the club's second coaching change of the current season. Egea was the club's sporting VP and took over managerial duties on Aug. 23, following head coach FRANCISCO PALENCIA's departure. The club has not yet announced whether Egea will still be the sporting VP (ESPN.com, 10/4). ... JIM WEIR was appointed manager of Scottish League One side Forfar Athletic "after parting company with Elgin City." Weir guided Elgin to a second place finish in League Two in '15-16. He takes over for GARY BOLLAN (BBC, 10/2). ... BRAD THORN was confirmed as the new coach of Super Rugby side Queensland Reds, replacing the sacked NICK STILES. Rumors "swirled for weeks that Stiles would be shown the door after reported run-ins with fellow coaches and key Queensland Rugby Union administrators." Former Melbourne Rebels head coach TONY MCGAHAN was appointed as Thorn's senior assistant coach (NEW ZEALAND HERALD, 10/5). ... JUPP HEYNCKES will be named Bayern Munich's interm coach, according to reports in Germany. The 72-year-old is "set to return for a fourth spell in charge" of the current German champion, having led the club to a Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League treble in '13. Bayern dismissed CARLO ANCELOTTI last week (London GUARDIAN, 10/4).
