Eurosport announced a four-year deal with the Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) and European Broadcasting Union from '17-20. It will broadcast every major UCI event exclusively in 36 countries and territories in Europe. The broadcaster will cover more than 200 days of live cycling and 2,500 hours of coverage across its channels (Eurosport).
The German FA (DFL) selected Swiss content protection solutions provider Nagra as a "partner in its fight against illegal content sharing of live Bundesliga matches over the internet." The DFL has chosen to leverage Nagra's anti-piracy services and global intelligence network to "track, monitor and stop illicit sharing" of Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga matches for the '17-18 season (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 9/13).
British-Asian broadcast platform BritAsia TV secured exclusive rights to show the Indian Super League in a multi-year deal on free-to-air U.K. TV. From Nov. 17, 95 football matches will be shown on the channel. BritAsia TV will feature a tripleheader of games each week, beginning with delayed "as live" coverage from the ISL on Fridays and Saturdays, followed by a live broadcast on Sundays (BritAsia TV).
