League Notes: More Than 50 Coaches To Lose Jobs Due To 'Financial Pressures'

Over 50 school coaches on the Curriculum Sports Programme "will lose their posts after the Department of Education ceased funding." The scheme, which has been running for a decade, sees coaches provided by the Ulster Gaelic Athletic Association and Irish FA working in "around 450 schools a year." The reason given by the department for the funding cut was "financial pressures on the education budget in 2017-18" (BBC, 9/8).

Police charged 30-year-old Wesley Brennan with fraud by "false representation and theft." He appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Saturday. The charges "followed his arrest in Belfast" in connection with a number of offenses, including an online GAA All-Ireland Final ticketing scam. Brennan is accused of 11 offenses "across two bills of indictment" (BBC, 9/9).
