Total Of More Than 300 Sponsors Donate $23.4M To Southeast Asian Games

Malaysian Minister of Youth & Sports Khairy Jamaluddin said that the organizers of the 29th Southeast Asian Games received 100M ringgit ($23.4M) from over 300 sponsors, according to VIETNAM NET. The figure "is much higher than the expected amount" of 80M ringgit ($18.7M), he said, adding that there are six diamond, six gold, nine silver and 18 bronze sponsors. The diamond sponsors, which donate at least 7.5M ringgit ($1.8M), are Japan's Ajinomoto, Thailand's Football Factory Sporting Goods, Malaysian automobile and motorbike producer Naza Group, Malaysia's Petronas oil and gas company, Malaysia's Rapid KL public transport network and Telekom Malaysia TM. CMG Asia Group signed a total sponsorship contract worth 1B Vietnamese dong ($44,000) on Friday to support Vietnamese sports in general and the Vietnam delegation participating in the SEA Games (VIETNAM NET, 8/4).

TNB, SONY ALSO ON BOARD
: The SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games signed a new sponsorship with Malaysian energy provider Tenaga Nasional Berhad. TNB was signed as a gold partner, a sponsorship category for contribution between 3M ringgit ($700,000) and 7.5M ringgit. The sponsorship entails cash and value in kind, which includes providing generator sets to be used during the Games. The SEA Games also announced a sponsorship deal with Sony, which will be a gold sponsor and loan 30 to 50 units of cameras for the event's photographers (SEA Games).
