Robinson, who began his career at Leeds United in '98 and also played for Tottenham and Blackburn, "was capped 41 times" for England (BBC, 7/17). ... Formula 1 broadcaster and former driver MARTIN BRUNDLE was "dramatically taken ill just moments before going on air to receive an award marking 20 years of his customary grid-walk." Brundle, who competed in 165 grands prix, was due to accept a trophy from F1 Managing Dir ROSS BRAWN "before falling unwell and receiving treatment at the Silverstone medical centre." Sky Sports confirmed that Brundle, 58, was "fully conscious and in good spirits" (London TELEGRAPH, 7/17). ... The IAAF announced former Namibian sprinter and IAAF Council member FRANKIE FREDERICKS was "provisionally suspended from athletics pending an investigation into a potential ethics violation." Fredericks is being investigated by the Athletics Integrity Unit over payments he received from PAPA MASSATA DIACK, the son of former IAAF President LAMINE DIACK, on the day Rio won the vote to host the 2016 Olympics (REUTERS, 7/17).
