Olympic Notes: Ireland Sports Minister Ross Considering Bid To Host Olympics

Ireland Minister for Sport Shane Ross "has set his sights on hosting the Olympic Games if Ireland's bid to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup is successful." Ross said on Wednesday that he was "energized" by the idea of developing "sports tourism," which opened "very, very exciting" opportunities for the country. He went on to say that "the sky's the limit" for Ireland's sports hosting ambitions (IRISH TIMES, 7/12).

The IPC and the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Games (POCOG) appointed Jet Set Sports as its global authorized ticket reseller for National Paralympic Committees, the general public outside South Korea and int'l clients for the PyeongChang Paralympic Games. In the new system, NPCs will have real time access to event tickets to meet the needs of their constituent groups. NPCs will be provided access to this client ticket portal starting on Aug. 1 (IPC).

The Qatar Olympic Committee made a donation to the IOC to support initiatives that aim to provide global assistance to the refugee crisis (Olympic Council of Asia).
