League Notes: NRL Player Kieran Foran Caught Up In Sea Eagles Investigation

National Rugby League side Warriors player Kieran Foran has been "embroiled" in the NRL's investigation into alleged salary cap breaches by his former club, the Manly Sea Eagles. The NRL will reportedly examine an alleged commitment Manly had with Foran "to try to facilitate a $150,000 sponsorship deal." Manly denies any promise was made to Foran (STUFF, 7/7).

World champion cyclist Peter Sagan left the Tour de France after being "disqualified for causing the crash which ended Mark Cavendish's race." His Bora-Hansgrohe team "protested against the decision," but race organizers will not allow an appeal. The race jury initially docked Sagan 30 seconds for his role in the crash (BBC, 7/5).

Mo Farah
stressed he has "never failed a blood test" following the release of hacked documents which appear to show his test results "once caused suspicion." Hackers Fancy Bears published documents on Wednesday "which state Farah returned a sample which needed further testing." The data goes on to show Farah was then cleared when his results were later viewed as "normal" (BBC, 7/6).

The Korean Sports Ministry said Thursday that it will request that the Korea Baseball Organization be investigated for "trying to whitewash a scandal involving an umpire and a baseball team CEO." The move comes after local media recently reported a "suspicious money transaction between a former umpire of the KBO and a former CEO of the Doosan Bears" ahead of the '13 postseason in the KBO League (KOREA TIMES, 7/6).
