IOC Evaluation Commission Arrives In Paris To Appraise 2024 Bid

IOC Evaluation Commission President Patrick Baumann and his colleagues arrived in Paris on Saturday to appraise the city’s candidature for the 2024 Olympic Games over the span of three days, according to L’ÉQUIPE. The IOC commission was met at the airport by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and Paris 2024 co-Chairs Tony Estanguet and Bernard Lapasset. The IOC team flew to Paris from L.A., the other city bidding for the 2024 Games (L’ÉQUIPE, 5/13). L’ÉQUIPE also reported French President Emmanuel Macron will "meet with members of the IOC evaluation commission." Paris 2024 announced that the meeting is set to take place on Monday or Tuesday (L'ÉQUIPE, 5/12). Macron spoke with IOC President Thomas Bach on May 11 to express his support for the Paris 2024 bid. During the phone call, Macron shared his attachment to the Paris 2024 project and emphasized France’s longstanding commitment to the Olympic movement (Paris 2024).
