Marketplace Roundup: Suzuki Extends Partnership With NRL Melbourne Storm

Suzuki extended its commitment to National Rugby League side Melbourne Storm as a premium sponsor through the '18 season. This new agreement will see the affiliation between Storm and Suzuki extend to a decade-long partnership. Suzuki has remained the club's exclusive motor vehicle partner since first teaming up in '08. Over that time, the Suzuki "S" has adorned the sleeves of all Melbourne Storm players. That logo positioning will continue with the contract extension (Melbourne Storm).

Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim and software company Sovanta signed an early contract extension through '20. The new deal calls for an expansion of the partnership. As an official business team partner, Sovanta will receive ad space on LED boards as well as on interview backboards. The company will also receive an increased hospitality package (TSG Hoffenheim).

Second Bundesliga side 1860 Munich agreed to a new partnership with cell phone producer RugGear. The company, which produces water-resistant and specially-protected phones, will receive logo presence on LED boards at 1860 home games (1860 Munich).

Scottish League One side Airdrie "sold out of replica shirts after the club's supporters' trust became the first fans' group in the world to be the main sponsor of their own team's kit." The shirts are printed with an image of Airdrie fan Mark Allison, who died of pancreatic cancer in June. All 100 shirts were sold in 35 minutes on Saturday morning. Commercial Manager Douglas Allsop said, "There were lots of disappointed people but they understood the situation." The club would usually sell between 100 and 150 shirts a season, but has already taken orders for a further 200, even though it will not be available until March (BBC, 12/14).
