State Audit Finds Estadio León Is Only Paying $742 Per Month In Rent

Estadio León in León, Mexico "is paying less rent than a house," according to Jannet López of LA AFICIÓN. Although the stadium "is supposed to pay" 108,000 pesos ($6,200) per month in rent to the city, it "ends up paying" 13,000 pesos ($742). According to an audit by the state of Guanajuato, the rent charged to Estadio León is "unclear" (LA AFICIÓN, 3/22). NBC DEPORTES reported this problem "joins the controversy that the municipality has had" with former Liga MX side León Owner Roberto Zermeño -- "who says he is the owner of the stadium" -- and the dispute over the property "remains in play" (NBC DEPORTES, 3/23).
