Saturday's "match of the day" between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, which started at 6:30pm, drew 800,000 viewers and had a market share of 7.8% on Sky. The pay-TV network's simulcast of the day's earlier matches obtained a 10.7% share in the target demo. Last week's coverage drew more than 17%. Sunday's match between Borussia Dortmund and Hertha Berlin recorded 680,000 viewers and had a 6.2% share in the target demo.
ON COURT: German public broadcaster ZDF "attracted only 870,000 viewers for its coverage of the int'l basketball friendly between Germany and France on Sunday." The game had a market share of 6.8%, along with 3.9% in the target demographic. The final day of the IAAF World Championships from Beijing drew 9.9% in the target demo. ZDF's broadcast recorded 2.34 million viewers and a 19.1% share (DWDL, 8/31).
