Bayern Munich Will Open Second International Office In Shanghai This Fall

Bayern Munich "is pushing ahead with its internationalization plans and will open an office in Shanghai," according to Nils Lehnebach of SPONSORs. Bayern Munich Head of Internationalization & Strategy Jörg Wacker: "We are currently looking at several locations. Our office could open as early as this fall with a small team." The opening of a second int'l office and the evaluation of a suitable location "are the result of an analysis of the team's China tour this summer." Wacker said, "From Shanghai you are in almost every important Chinese city in two hours." Bayern Exec Chair Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently announced that the club wants to generate €25M ($29M) from China alone by '20. The club's trip to China this summer reportedly brought in €10M ($11.6M) (SPONSORs, 8/24).
