Franchise Notes: Scottish Rangers Deny That New Directors Have Been Paid

Scottish Championship side Rangers has "emphatically denied that directors under the new regime led by Dave King have been been paid for their work at the club." In a statement released on the club's official website this morning, the club reiterated, "Since the change in regime at RIFC in March, no remuneration has been paid to the directors of RIFC. This is the board policy which has been agreed by every director." The statement was released in response to "a blogger who claimed that directors Paul Murray and John Gilligan were being paid respective sums" of £7,500 ($11,700) and £3,250 ($5,070) per week (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 8/13). ... Italian Serie D "crisis club" Parma is auctioning its trophies in a "desperate attempt to raise money." Unable to clear debts totaling more than €200M ($223M), the club was put up for sale for £14M ($22M) by an Italian judge in April and, "after failing to find a new owner," relegated to Serie D before being forced to reform as Parma Calcio 1913 by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). Administrators have put the following trophies up for sale: three Coppa Italias won in '92, '99 and '02, the Cup Winners' Cup from '93, the '94 European Super Cup, the UEFA Cups of '95 and '99 and the '99 Italian Super Cup (London GUARDIAN, 8/13).
