More Than 4.5 Million Tune In To Watch Hungarian F1 Grand Prix On RTL

German free-to-air TV channel RTL "recorded more than 4.5 million viewers for its broadcast of the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. Sunday's race, which was won by Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel, attracted 4.64 million viewers. The number translated into a market share of 33.1%. In the target demographic 14-49, the race from the Hungaroring near Budapest drew a 28.1% share. German pay-TV Sky Deutschland, which also aired the race, obtained a 3.5% share in the target demographic as a total of 400,000 viewers tuned in.

TOUR STAGE: German public broadcaster ARD drew 1.83 million viewers for its broadcast of the final stage of the Tour de France on Sunday. ARD drew a 9.9% market share for its broadcast, along with 5.6% in the target demo. Pan-European sport channel Eurosport recorded a further 270,000 for its broadcast of the stage. Eurosport drew a market share of 1.6% and 0.7% in the target demo.

SEASON OPENER: Sky Deutschland recorded an average of 420,000 viewers for its broadcast of the first matchday of the new 2nd Bundesliga season. The number translated into a market share of 3.1%. In the target demographic, Saturday's coverage had a 6.2% share. Sunday's games obtained a 2.6% share as 270,000 viewers tuned in. Friday's season opener between Duisburg and Kaiserslautern drew 210,000 viewers and had a 1.4% share in the target demo (DWDL, 7/27).
