Opening 2nd Bundesliga Match Could Feature Two Teams Without Shirt Sponsors

The opening match of the upcoming 2nd Bundesliga season "could feature two teams without title sponsors," according to Hartmann & Schilling of SPONSORs. Both MSV Duisburg and FC Kaiserslautern "have been without a title sponsor so far." Kaiserslautern and its marketing partner Sportfive "have been looking for a new shirt sponsor since Paysafecard ended its deal with the club after one season." Paysafecard paid €1.6M for the rights. In peparation for the match on Friday, Kaiserslautern "created the slogan '115 Years Tradition' to be displayed on the empty front." MSV Duisburg is looking to replace the Tiemeyer Group, which was the club's shirt sponsor during the second half of the '14-15 season. The car dealership paid an estimated €150,000. Sportfive is also in charge of Duisburg's sponsorship search (SPONSORs, 7/22).
