TVSE FÚTBOL Takes Over 80% Stake In Spanish Second Division Side Girona

Spanish second division side Girona "now has a new owner," according to Marc Bernad Suelves of AS. France's TVSE FÚTBOL has become the majority shareholder after taking over 80% of the club's shares. This "ends Josep Delgado's era" as the owner of the club. TVSE FÚTBOL and its president Samir Boudjemaa belong to the Horace Partners group and depend on the TV SPORT EVENTS organization, led by Jean-Louis Dutaret. Football agent Pere Guardiola will have a "significant role" in the structure of Girona as an outside consultant. Guardiola said, "This is ownership that does not want to interfere in the day-to-day, it wants to reinvent the possible revenue for the first team and the youth football and this is welcome." The club said in a statement, "They want to build a long-term, solid project that generates a solid team." The new owners also said that they will "work on synergy between business and social aspects to increase to the maximum the sponsorship of the club and thus increase revenue." Their third objective is to "grow the club's membership and ticket sales." They said, "If you offer quality and convey seriousness, we are sure that people will resond" (AS, 6/30).
