Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) President ÁNGEL MARÍA VILLAR was on Monday elected as first VP of UEFA. UEFA's ExCo is currently meeting in Prague. Villar "already occupied the position of VP, and is also a FIFA VP in representation of UEFA." He becomes UEFA's "second-highest 'big shot,'" behind only President MICHEL PLATINI (EFE, 6/29). ... Portuguese side Sporting de Braga announced that it "terminated with just cause" coach SÉRGIO CONCEIÇÃO, whose contract expired on Tuesday. The club's new coach "should be announced on Thursday" (LUSA, 6/30) ... Brasileiro second division side Mogi Mirim sacked coach AÍLTON SILVA. Silva, who recently replaced PELÉ's son EDINHO as coach, "coached the team for six games" (ESTADÃO, 6/29). ... JOSÉ LUIS MENDILIBAR has been appointed as coach of La Liga side Eibar for the second time. The club "dispensed of the services" of GAIZKA GARITANO after it was relegated from the top flight last season. Eibar was later reinstated when Elche was demoted due to its financial difficulties, but the "decision to dismiss Garitano was not reversed" (SOCCERWAY, 6/30). ... GUUS HIDDINK "left his position as Netherlands head coach after just 10 months in charge." The 68-year-old "began his second spell in charge in August and had a contract until the end of Euro 2016." The rest of the coaching staff -- including assistant DANNY BLIND -- "will remain in place" (BBC, 6/29).
