Spanish Football League Boss Addresses Real Madrid's Complaint Over Mediapro

Spanish Football League (LFP) President Javier Tebas spoke about Real Madrid's complaint against the LFP over Mediapro "being chosen to negotiate" La Liga's int'l TV rights, according to MARCA. Tebas said, "The complaint stems from the fact that Real Madrid aren't happy with the path we've taken." Tebas is "adamant that he is trying to do right by Spanish football" (MARCA, 6/29). In Madrid, Javier G. Matallanas reported a new "Football War" has exploded. When it seemed that the Real Decreto "was going to bring definitive peace," Real Madrid arrives and clashes with La Liga. Real is opposed to Mediapro negotiating the int'l rights and wants Telefónica to negotiate the league's national and int'l rights. The LFP wants Mediapro to commercialize its rights "due to the experience it has amassed from having done this in recent years and knowing the market perfectly" (AS, 6/29).
