Event Notes: NBL Changes Semifinal Times Due To Super Rugby Final

The Super Rugby final has "forced a shift" in the scheduling of the National Basketball League playoffs. The semfinals of the NBL Final Four tournament "were due to start" at TSB Bank Arena in Wellington at 6pm and 8:30pm on Saturday, meaning both games would have cut into the 7:35pm Super Rugby final down the road at Westpac Stadium. However, the NBL "made the decision on Monday afternoon to shift the start times" to 3:30pm and 5:30pm, in what is "shaping as a blockbuster weekend of sport in the capital" (STUFF, 6/29). ... The FIBA Europe Board voted Czech Republic as the next EuroBasket Women hosts in '17. Czech Republic and Serbia were the two bidding countries. EuroBasket Women 2017 will revert to a 16-team format and a shorter competition format. It will be played in June '17 with the exact dates to be confirmed (FIBA).
