Caroline Wozniacki Signs On As First Athlete Endorser For Lavazza Coffee

Tennis player Caroline Wozniacki has signed on to be the "first athlete endorser" for Italian coffee brand Lavazza, according to Daniel Kaplan of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. The one-year deal was "informally unveiled last week, when Wozniacki made a surprise visit to a Lavazza 120th anniversary party in Paris." Wozniacki was in town for the French Open, though she was eliminated in the second round. As part of the deal, Wozniacki will have coffee "with winners of a contest tied to the U.S. Open." She will stay in N.Y. for the promo "even if she loses early in the tournament." Lagardère Unlimited's John Tobias, who reps Wozniacki, said that his client last week "shot an ad that features her sipping coffee and chatting." Kaplan notes the ad is "set to be released through social media platforms" and will include a link to the U.S. Open promo. Lavazza will not have logo presence on Wozniacki's clothes or racket bag (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 6/1 issue). The United States Tennis Association in February signed a multi-year deal making Lavazza an official promotional partner and the exclusive coffee of the U.S. Open. The brand also serves as an official supplier for Wimbledon (THE DAILY).
