Event Notes: Manchester City Friendly In Doubt After Flooding In Houston

Man City's friendly trip to face Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo "is in doubt after flooding in the city." The Premier League team, which is on a two-game postseason tour of the U.S. and Canada, is "scheduled to play Houston on Friday" (BBC, 5/27). ... An Arsenal fan "has bagged a pair of FA Cup final tickets which were sent into the stratosphere ahead of Saturday's match." The VIP passes "were attached to a weather balloon released from Wembley Stadium." The FA said that they reached a height of 29,000ft (8,839m), before the balloon burst and they floated by parachute to Broad Oak, Sussex" (BBC, 5/27). ... The NBA and FIBA announced that Gerald Henderson (Charlotte Hornets; U.S.), Damjan Rudez (Indiana Pacers; Croatia) and Cody Zeller (Charlotte Hornets; U.S.) will join former NBA players Jorge Garbajose (Spain), Vladimir Radmanovic (Serbia) and Hanno Mottola (Finland), as well as former WNBA player Amaya Valdemoro (Spain), to lead the 50 campers from more than 25 European countries who will travel to the first Basketball without Borders Europe camp in Gran Canaria, Spain on June 2-5 (NBA).
